VMWare v14 with Rockwell IDE installation instructions 8/27/2021 This document describes: 1) The instructions required to install VMWare Studio V14. 2) The instructions required to copy the Windows 7 virtual machine (Win7WS) that has the Rockwell IDE loaded. 1) System Clock Requirements: The computer onto which the virtual machine is to be loaded onto must have the system clock set back to 10/1/2018 and auto time update turned off. If loaded onto a machine with current date the Rockwell IDE will limit access to 7 days. If already has the W7 Rockwell VM loaded and that computer is set to current date then the Rockwell VM must be deleted from VMWare v14. The system clock set back to 10/1/2018 and auto update turned off. Then the Rockwell W7 VM added back to VMWare V14 per the instructions below. 2) VMWare Folders: Open the G:\Roger's Files Volume 4 (Downloads)\Download Files A\Rockwell\Rockwell VM Software folder. There should be two folders among other files in that directory. One folder will be labeled "Win7WS Original Copy", the other will be labeled "Win7WS". If the "Win7WS" does not exsist then create it and copy the contents of "Win7WS Original Copy" folder into the "Win7WS" folder. That will be our working VM directory. 3) VMWare Player V14 Installation: While still in the G:\Roger's Files Volume 4 (Downloads)\Download Files A\Rockwell\Rockwell VM Software folder, double click onto the "VMware-player-14.0.0-6661328" application to begin the installation of VMWare Player v14. 4) After VMWare Player v14 is installed, open the player and select the "Open Virtual Machine" option. Move to the "G:\Roger's Files Volume 4 (Downloads)\Download Files A\Rockwell\Rockwell VM Software\Win7WS" directory and double click onto the "Win7WS" VMWare virtual disk file to begin the copying process. At some point a window will pop up asking if you are moving our copying the virtual machine, select "copy". The "Win 7 Rockwell Workstation" virtual machine will then be added to VMWare Player 14. 5) Virtual Machine Settings: After adding "Win 7 Rockwell Workstation" to VMWare Player 14, click onto but do not open the virtual machine. Select "Edit virtual machine settings". Under the "Hardware" tab select the "Network Adapter" and select the "Connect at power on" and "Bridged" options. All other hardware setting are good as they are. Under the "Options" tab select "Shared Folders" and add drive "G". All other options are good as they are. 6) Before opening the "Win 7 Rockwell Workstation" virtual machine, make sure that you turn off the wifi adapter, verify that the LAN network adapter is fucntioning and then follow the instructions of the "L32E Communication Notes" readme file.
