Green, Self-Powered Wireless Sensor Network Offers Secure Monitoring & Control Equipment
GrayStone Industries of Dayton, Nevada, producers of innovative RF and microwave products for commercial, industrial, defense and telecommunications, now offers a cost effective green solution to the problem of secure wireless monitor and control of remotely located equipment with the release of EnviroNet. A self powered wireless system, EnviroNet provides interactive monitor and control for a variety of field equipment applications while providing service personnel with immediate wireless access to critical information and equipment performance. EnviroNet modules operate 24/7, under extreme weather conditions for up to 4 weeks without primary operating power. Provided software configures many features of the EnviroNet modules including power management, network security and I/O configuration making the EnviroNet system an effective solution to monitoring and adjusting the performance of remotely located equipment.
How it Works
EnviroNet is comprised of networkable, self powered transmitter, receiver
and repeater modules designed to integrate into existing and new equipment,
making EnviroNet ideal for remote industrial field operations. Primary operating
power is derived from a solar cell array or other forms of ambient energy
harvesting devices or from an auxiliary power source. EnviroNet modules
feature USB interface, filtered analog inputs, 4-20mA current loop capability,
external sensor bias and general purpose digital I/O; thus allowing EnviroNet
modules to interface with commonly available sensors, actuators and alarms.
Operating in the license free ISM band, EnviroNet provides a typical range of 1 mile open field and over 300 feet in an industrial environment. Operating range can be greatly extended with the incorporation of EnviroNet repeater modules into the network.
Provided configuration software allows the many useful features of EnviroNet modules to be configured; including I/O mapping, analog channel configuration, power management and network security. The configuration software also provides a means to monitor and acquire field operation performance from any remote location within the network the acquired data may be stored for further analysis by a spreadsheet utility.
Applications
EnviroNet’s innovative technology provides an energy conscientious and environmentally
friendly solution to any monitor and control system, taking the system beyond
their basic capabilities by converting each system into a member of an intelligent,
interactive network that wirelessly provides critical system information
to equipment and personnel alike in a reliable and secure environment.
EnviroNet can be customized for most any monitor and control application of remote or inaccessible equipment. This includes agriculture and waste water management operations among others.
Agricultural concerns and government regulations require concise monitoring of water irrigation for peak performance and productivity with maximum water usage and the ability to recognize inconsistencies that may require attention.
As wastewater treatment systems increase in number across the country, the associated complexity and cost of operations makes the problem of reliable and secure automation of monitor and control systems a key consideration to wastewater treatment management. Moreover, increasing energy and environmental concerns add to these considerations.
With multiple applications that require monitor and control of equipment for peak performance, EnviroNet offers an efficient solution.
